Resonance Psychiatry
From Jennifer Bowen, DNP, PMHNP-BC · April 2026
Hi everyone,
A few important updates about your care. Please read this through — some of it affects your appointments and prescriptions starting next month.
New Jersey now requires any patient taking a stimulant medication (such as Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Concerta, Dexedrine, or Focalin) to be seen in person at least once every three months in order to continue receiving prescriptions.
This is a state law, not a practice policy — it applies to every prescriber in New Jersey as of February 16, 2026. I am bringing my practice into compliance by May 16, 2026.
If you take a stimulant, we need to meet in person before May 16, 2026. I cannot legally refill stimulant prescriptions via telehealth past that date without an in-person visit on file.
What this means for you:
If you're unsure whether this applies to your medication, reply to this email and I'll confirm.
I don't have a permanent office address yet. I am finalizing a location and will send the address as soon as it's confirmed. In the meantime, please reply to hold a tentative in-person slot so I can reach out with logistics as soon as the space is set.
We are moving from SimplePractice to Carepatron. You'll receive a separate email from Carepatron with a link to set up your new account. The old SimplePractice portal will be going away, so please set up Carepatron when the invitation arrives.
All of your records and history will be moved over — you don't need to do anything on that side.
Starting immediately, we are using Doxy.me for telehealth instead of Zoom. It's simpler — no download, no account, no passwords. Just click the link at your appointment time:

Please bookmark this link now. For your next telehealth appointment, click it a few minutes before your scheduled time and you'll be placed in the waiting room.
If you have trouble connecting, call the office and leave me a message.
If you take a Schedule II medication (stimulants such as Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Concerta, Dexedrine, or Focalin), you'll need a monthly follow-up appointment to get it refilled. One standing monthly visit, and your refills happen at that visit.
Monthly check-ins are better care — stimulants benefit from regular monitoring of blood pressure, sleep, appetite, mood, and how the dose is working. It also keeps your prescriptions on a predictable schedule so nothing lapses.
Please book your next appointment in a timely manner. If your refill is due in two weeks, don't wait until the day of — book the appointment now.
If you take a stimulant, combine this with the NJ in-person rule above: one in-person visit every three months, and telehealth the other two months.
If you know you owe a copay, please pay it. I don't want to spend my time chasing payments — I want to spend it on your care.
Once your Carepatron portal is set up, you can make payments there, and I'm asking every patient to keep a valid card on file. Here is exactly how that works:
Your card on file will never be charged unless it is a valid payment you actually owe. I take your privacy seriously and will never betray your trust.
If you have a question about a charge or a balance, reply or send a portal message and I will clear it up the same day whenever possible.
Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged to the card on file because that time is set aside just for you and can't be filled on short notice. I know life happens — if something unavoidable comes up, message me and we'll figure it out together.
Please only book the time you actually need. If you're not sure whether a standard follow-up is enough or you need a longer visit (medication change, significant life event, something complex), message me ahead of time and I'll adjust the slot. This helps me stay on time for everyone.
All refill requests go through the refill form — no messages, no calls, no texts, no pharmacy faxes, just the form. This is how I track what's coming in so nothing gets missed. Requests that come in through any other channel will be redirected back to the form.
To keep things running smoothly, here's how I handle requests:
Call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. Do not email or message through the portal for emergencies — I may not see it in time.
I know this is a lot of changes at once. I'm doing everything I can to make the transition as smooth as possible, and I appreciate your patience while I get the new systems in place. If anything here raises questions, please reply and I'll get back to you.
Warmly,
